33. Heesterteelt Aalsmeer

We gaan verder richting Aalsmeer. De landerijen aan SZ hebben een geringe drooglegging. Dat betekent dat er weinig verschil is tussen het slootpeil en het maaiveld. Oorspronkelijk bestond het gebied uit slecht begaanbaar veenmoeras, begroeid met riet, wilg en elzen. De Aalsmeerders hebben het land geschikt gemaakt voor de teelt van diverse vormen van planten- en heesterteelt en sinds die tijd hun geld daar mee verdient. Vanwege de waterrijke omgeving kunnen watersporters hier ook prima terecht.
