17. Gemaal Hanepraai

Iets verder langs de dijk ligt de uitstroom van gemaal Hanepraai. Het huidige gemaal heeft een capaciteit van 70m3/min en is een van de twee stadsboezemgemalen. Het andere ligt bij de Mallegatsluis, maar is vanaf de Hollandse IJssel niet zichtbaar. Het huidige gemaal Hanepraai is gebouwd in 1987 als aanvulling op het Mallegatgemaal om het waterpeil in de stad goed te regelen. Voorheen lag hier het oude Boezemgemaal van Rijnland, een stoomgemaal met schepraderen, gebouwd in 1855. Dit is gesloopt in 1943 nadat het nieuwe gemaal Pijnacker Hordijk definitief in gebruik is genomen.
