14. De Vijfhuizermolen

Veel van de molens in Nederland zijn verdwenen. Ze zijn vervangen door elektrisch aangedreven pompen en gemalen. De overgebleven molens worden in goede staat gehouden. Vaak zijn ze zelfs nog inzetbaar. Dit geldt ook voor de molen aan SZ. Dit is de Vijfhuizermolen die dateert van 1874. Met zijn stalen vijzel kan hij nog altijd de Vijhuizerpolder en de Poelpolder in Haarlem bemalen. Natuurlijk zorgt een modern gemaal tegenwoordig voor de hoofdbemaling. De Vijfhuizermolen wordt beheerd door de Stichting Molens Zuid-Kennemerland. Eigenaar is de gemeente Haarlem.
