Zijper Museum

In het Zijper Museum staat de geschiedenis van ’de Zijpe’ centraal. Deze polder* ligt in tussen de West-Friese Omringdijk ter hoogte van Schagen en de kuststrook vanaf Petten tot voorbij Callantsoog. De Zijpe is samen met de Hazepolder bedijkt in 1597. Het initiatief voor de inpoldering, waarbij voor het eerst in Nederland zo’n groot gebied (ca. 6500 ha) werd bedijkt, is genomen door de veelzijdige ‘da Vinci van het Noorden’ Jan van Scorel.
