5. Gemaal Bospolder

Met gemalen, zoals Achthoven en Bospolder, zorgt Rijnland ervoor dat het water in ons gebied op peil blijft. Als er te veel water is, wordt het overtollige water vanuit de polders (de lagergelegen delen in ons gebied) overgezet naar de boezem. Boezems zijn grote meren, plassen en kanalen, waarvan het water op peil wordt gehouden door grote boezemgemalen. Van daaruit wordt het water afgevoerd naar de grote rivieren en uiteindelijk naar zee.
